July 2013 news

The dog days of summer were no obstacle for us to launch our pet therapy program at Sirius Alapítvány in Érd. The first group of Seedlings -- from the Vas Gereben Care Home in District XX -- were absolutely enchanted by the experience. Pet therapy is proven to provide a wide variety of physical and mental benefits, including reduced stress, diminishment of chronic pain and greater ability to build connections with others.
The program is sponsored by Britannica International School, whose students will also be taking an active part in the therapy sessions as part of the school's partnership with Seedling Trust. Pet therapy currently takes place every Tuesday from 10 until 11:30 a.m., and the program will be expanded with the other Care Homes in the coming months.
Special thanks go to the tireless team that cares for more than 100 dogs at Sirius's shelter facilities, who welcomed us with open arms. Of course we are also grateful to the adorable Mazsola, Leila, Füge and Pepi -- who are all up for adoption at www.siriusalapitvany.hu.
